The * in the part no. Denotes that these parts are regularly used and therefore could be available from stock or on shorter lead times than parts not marked. These highly effective spring steel 'U' Nuts are lightweight easily installed low cost fasteners. They are used to provide strong thread forms for thin sheets that would otherwise be incapable of accepting a thread. Manufactured to suit a range of sheet thickness in one clip means that one part could be used for several different applications. The design is such that once engaged and tightened the clip creates a spring locking action upon the screw therefore resisting vibration and shock loads, one reason why these clips are widely used in the Domestic Appliance Manufacturing Industries. These clips are available in Self-Colour, Code 00, also in various organic finishes. HSL, in line with all other manufacturers of spring steel clips, refuses to accept liability for any premature failure of any spring steel part it supplies that has been specified by the customer with an Electro-Plated Finish, due to uncertainty regarding the incidence of, identification of, control of and removal of Hydrogen Embrittlement. Despite accurate processing controls, baking cannot be relied upon to guarantee removal of Hydrogen. We strongly recommend alternative finishes are specified.
